ABOUT THE GAME

Old Woods is an illustrated text RPG built from Romanian folk tales, played in the browser a few minutes a day. A river runs through old woods, each with its village and its guardian. You hunt in the woods, grow stronger, and face each wood's guardian to open the next.

The creatures come straight from Romanian folklore: the balaur, the zmei, the ielele dancing in the clearings, the Mother of the Forest. The feast days of the village year come round in the game on their own dates, and the whole world is set in a poor Romanian village of the early 1800s.

WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT

- Romanian folklore, told from the source: Creatures, feast days and village life from the old stories, in English and in Romanian.
- A picture for every place: Every wood, village place and event has its own picture, by day and by night, and the village dresses for its feasts.
- A few minutes a day: New turns come at every dawn. Nothing to grind and no energy to buy: the game respects your time.
- A shared village: Live chat in the square, letters between players, clans, duels, weddings at the inn, and world events the whole river fights together.
- Endings that differ: Three endings in the first telling of the tale and four more in the second, where every guardian comes back changed and each player's woods change differently.
- Fair to play: Free, with no ads. Players can try it before signing up, and nothing anyone can buy makes a hero stronger.
